Synopsis
On a rainy day, I shared a long-distance conversation with my mother.
Director's Statement:
“What are you studying?” A question familiar to any child in creative fields. My mother doesn’t always understand my work, but she supports me unconditionally. From Germany, we connect through screens, where my voice narrates my world, and she imagines it through everyday conversations—“Have you eaten?” or “Take your vitamins”—which now carry deeper meaning. These exchanges, paired with the photos she sends me of her daily merit-making rituals, reassure me of her presence. Though far apart, these moments form a digital home, binding us together across time and distance.
I share with her the unfamiliar world I see: snow, bread, foreign streets. She shares with me the familiar—photos of life at home, a comforting contrast to the alien landscapes of Germany. My sister helped capture the final footage, just another ordinary day that will pass, as my mother always says.
